This isn't about control.
It isn't about clinging tightly
to some desired path.

This is opening to the possibility
that life beyond your control
is good and precisely what you need.
It's to be trusted, rather than feared.

This is surrendering to the absence
of a clear conclusion.
It's the humility to say -- I don't know
and the willingness to accept -- I don't have to.

This is choosing to step into the uncertainty
instead of running away from it.
It's leaning into vulnerability
instead of choosing to flee.

This is opening to the fullness of being human,
welcoming that spectrum of thoughts, emotions and feelings --
messy as they may be --
instead of brushing them aside with shame.

This is experiencing the inconclusive nature of life,
and sharing the unfinished pieces
because that...
that is the essence of this, my dear.

God is...
the mystery
the unanswered questions
the indescribable
the space between

He isn't found in tidy answers.
Those fail to do him justice.
Why must we insist on making him
small enough to grasp?
Can we simply stand in awe and wonder,
asking for nothing more than to gain
the slightest glimpse of his expansiveness?
Can we accept the fact that we don't know
what to say, what to ask for, what we need?
Can we surrender with that kind of humility?
Can we set aside our assumptions and truly see him in all?
Perhaps the more you come to know God, the more you find --
staying open to mystery is what keeps faith alive.
